1965 David received his first camera after selling enough peanut brittle candy for his Little League baseball team the Tigers. That camera was a Kodak Hawkeye, which he still owns.
1978 Attends Newport School of Photography in Newport Beach, Calif., becomes assistant to the owner Al Belson.
1979 - 1981 Attends several workshops with Richard Garrod, John Sexton, Henry Gilpin, Rod Dresser, and Clinton Smith.
1979 - 2001 Owns and operates commercial photography business.
1983 First place in photography at the Las Damas Art Festival.
1985 Moves to Oakhurst, Ca. and begins photographing the southern Yosemite Sierra.
1987 Two man show with Richard Garrod at the Spectrum Gallery in Fresno. His photographs appear in Fresno, California's Heartland book and in Sunset and National Geographic World, and the cover of Focus on the Family magazines.
2000 Opens the David Ashcraft Gallery in Oakhurst.
2001 Curates and shows in group shows at the Spectrum Gallery and Gallery Govreau in Fresno.
2002 Shows in the Ansel Adams group show at the Mumm winery in Napa, Ca. and the Fresno Art Museum's Decennial Invitational - Next Wave II: Artists of the New Era.
2004 Eight page Spotlight feature and interview in B&W Black & White Magazine for Collectors of Fine Photography.
2005 Shows in Fresno City Hall sponsored by the Fresno Arts Council. Group show UC Center, Fresno Community ArtReach and a ongoing show at the UC of Merced.
2006 Appears in the UC Center A Dozen Points of View, Fine Art Photography Exhibit, begins teaching photography at Fresno City College.
2008 Group show at The Spectrum Art Gallery
2009 Solo shows at the Photoshop in San Luis Obispo, the first showing of platinum, palladium, and gold prints and color solo show at The Grind in Oakhurst, Ca.
2011 Two man show with Richard Garrod at Gallery 1233 in Long Beach, Ca.
2012 Guest curator at the Fresno Art Museum the Visual Metaphors, Photographs by Richard Garrod exhibit.
